Job summary

Dollar Tree in Chesapeake, VA, is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the general ledger and month-end close process. You will prepare and upload journal entries, reconcile accounts, and collaborate with departments to ensure accurate accruals and classifications in GAAP.

The role requires a 4-year accounting/finance degree and strong Excel/Outlook skills. This is a full-time, hybrid position with salary from $55,000 to $66,500 plus a 10% bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree with Accounting or Finance concentration.
• Good knowledge of basic accounting concepts.
• Applied knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the month end close process by preparing, entering, and uploading journal entries into the general ledger system.
• Work with stakeholders from other departments to ensure transactions are recorded for the month including accruals and reclassifications.
• Prepare account reconciliations and verify information against supporting documentation.
• Update/maintain accounting spreadsheets, databases, and other support; apply Excel formulas with accuracy.
• Gather and analyze information from the general ledger and other departments.
• Maintain and distribute reports for business units and management.
• Provide prompt customer service to departments via phone and email.
• Follow company policies and perform other duties as assigned.
