Job summary

EquiTrust Life Insurance Company in Chicago is seeking a Staff Accountant to support daily financial reporting, reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance. You will contribute to monthly and quarterly closes and assist with regulatory filings and audit requests.

This role requires solid GAAP knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally with Accounting and Financial Reporting teams.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in GAAP and fundamental accounting concepts.
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries for accounts payable, payroll, taxes, investments, treasury, and operations.
• Complete general ledger and bank reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly and quarterly closing activities.
• Support regulatory filings and audit requests.
• Provide documentation for internal and external audits.
