Job summary

Colorado Industrial Packaging (CIP) is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations, take over for a retiring staff accountant, and ensure accurate financial records. The role involves AR, AP, and GL work, with close-month responsibilities and collaboration with executive management.

Hybrid role in the Denver area (Aurora or Colorado Springs office options) after onboarding, with opportunities for growth toward controllership through direct exposure to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; 1–3 years in operational accounting (8+ years can substitute)
• Manufacturing industry experience is a plus
• Working knowledge of AR, AP, inventory, and GL accounting
• ERP/accounting software experience; strong Excel skills

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices (coding, approval, timely payment) and maintain AP records
• Set up new vendors/customers, including banking verification and payment terms
• Prepare recurring journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations (including inventory)
• Record fixed asset depreciation and capitalization of assets
• Record expense accruals (commissions, rebates, payroll) and bi-weekly payroll entries
• Support month-end close, variance analysis, and chart of accounts maintenance
• Assist with annual audit requests and roll forward ERP files for new fiscal year
• Lead cash application: apply receipts, reconcile, and manage cash flow reviews
