Golden State Recruiting is partnering with a growing organization in downtown Walnut Creek to hire a Staff Accountant. This role offers broad exposure to accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, banking activities, and general accounting support in a collaborative environment.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of accounting experience or strong education, with a solid foundation in accounting principles and Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in accounting, finance, business or related field.
• Ideally 2+ years of accounting experience; strong recent graduates encouraged to apply.
• Working knowledge of general accounting principles including A/P, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and comfort learning new accounting systems.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently or collaboratively.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounts payable activities including invoice processing, coding, approvals, vendor inquiries, and payment preparation.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and assist with financial reporting.
• Record and maintain journal entries including cash transfers, debt service, accruals, and other general accounting transactions.
• Assist with ACH payments, wire transfers, bank deposits, and cash management activities.
• Reconcile vendor statements, research discrepancies, and resolve outstanding invoice issues.
• Support monthly accounts receivable reconciliations and expense reimbursements.
• Assist with payroll processing, employee benefit deductions, and related administrative activities.
• Support annual 1099 preparation, budgeting, and other year-end accounting activities.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with accounting leadership and other departments on various accounting projects.
