Job summary

GNCO, Inc. is seeking a Staff Accountant to monitor and post transactions to the general ledger, and analyze GL accounts, including payroll accruals and prepaid expenses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting from a 4-year accredited institution.
• CPA certification preferred.
• 1-3 years of accounting experience, public accounting experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid understanding of GAAP, including cost accounting.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and to effectively prioritize demands and execute tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintains general ledger accounts and reconciles accounts, focusing on prepaid and accrued expenses, payroll and bank recs.
• Prepares monthly entries and posts to the general ledger.
• Monitors expense postings for proper classification to departments.
• Assists with monthly financial statements and reports.
• Assists with annual financial audits and required documents.
• Assists with internal controls design and segregation of duties.
• Develops and maintains process documentation.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature as required.
