Job summary

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is hiring a Staff Accountant to join the Accounting Team in Washington, DC. The role supports across departments and external partners to ensure accurate accounting, timely payments, and proper employee reimbursements.

Responsibilities include bank reconciliations, vendor inquiries, and assisting with month-end close and audits. 60k starting salary with full-time exempt status and SEIU Local-500 representation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or 1-3 years of relevant experience
• Knowledge of general accounting procedures
• Proficient in data entry and management
• Strong experience with spreadsheet software
• Experience with Sage Intacct and automated accounts payable software preferred

Responsibilities

• Download daily credit card and bank transactions and summarize them
• Download monthly bank statements and prepare cash reconciliation templates
• Reconcile deposits into cash accounts and work with vendors to resolve discrepancies
• Monitor accounting inbox and respond to questions from vendors and staff
• Set up outgoing bank transfers and create ACH or wire templates
• Review, audit, and process employee expense claims and cards with proper receipts
• Assist in the monthly close process
• Assist in interim and annual audits with external auditors
• Other duties to support the department and the DNC's mission
