Job summary

The Democratic National Committee in Washington, DC seeks a Deputy Chief Financial Officer to partner with the CFO and oversee day‑to‑day financial operations for the DNC and affiliated entities.

The Deputy CFO will advise senior leadership, present financial information, supervise accounting staff, and administer controls and reporting across the organization. The position is full‑time and exempt, with potential weekend work.

Qualifications

• CPA designation is preferred and highly valued.
• 8+ years of work experience in accounting, budgeting, and financial management.
• Public accounting and non-profit experience preferred; familiarity with political or FEC-regulated organizations a plus.
• Knowledge of FEC compliance regulations strongly preferred.
• Advanced experience with spreadsheets (Google Sheets) required; Sage Intacct experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting function, managing daily accounting operations and serving as the primary interface for all day-to-day accounting matters with staff and outside parties.
• Ensure that accounting and reporting systems support management, compliance, and fiduciary needs (GL, AP, cash disbursements, cash receipts).
• Maintain internal control systems and written policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements (FEC/IRS).
• Oversee monthly FEC reports and annual audit; coordinate tax returns (1120-POL, state/local taxes).
• Recruit, train, and supervise accounting staff as needed.
• Develop and maintain financial systems and reporting; provide timely financial information to leadership.
