Job summary

FAR.AI is hiring their first in-house accountant to build scaling finance operations in Berkeley, CA, with remote US options. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will own day-to-day accounting, improve controls, and support grants across multiple entities.

The role balances hands-on work with process design in a fast-growing nonprofit setting. You will lead month-end close, coordinate audits, and implement scalable policies while collaborating across leadership teams to inform strategic

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on accounting with full-cycle responsibilities.
• CPA license or active progress toward CPA.
• Proficient with Google Sheets, QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Mercury, and Airtable.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• Capable of managing competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
• High attention to detail and rigorous documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own the full accounting cycle for the organization.
• Lead month-end and year-end close, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations.
• Maintain GL records for US nonprofit with international staff and Singapore entity.
• Support grant and fund accounting and donor compliance.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements and reports.
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax preparers.
• Develop and document accounting policies and internal controls.
• Support financial operations and respond to ad hoc analyses.
