Job summary

Banneker Ventures is hiring a Staff Accountant in Silver Spring, MD to perform day-to-day accounting tasks and support financial reporting. You will prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, maintain the general ledger, and assist with month-end and year-end closings, while ensuring adherence to GAAP and internal policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or in progress).
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Proficiency in NetSuite or similar cloud-based accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail with good organizational skills.
• Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
• Basic understanding of GAAP.
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices and prepare payments for approval.
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist in preparing basic financial reports (P&L, balance sheets).
• Support month-end and year-end closing procedures with senior accountants and CFO.
• Maintain organized financial records and ensure secure, accessible filing.
