Job summary

Bass Pro Shops is seeking a Staff Accountant – Fixed Assets to assist with accurate recording of fixed asset transactions and support the capital expenditure process across all business units. The role covers month-end close for fixed assets, budgeting support, project accounting, asset capitalization, and detailed reporting for internal and external stakeholders.

Required is a Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and 2+ years of accounting experience; familiarity with fixed assets and Excel

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• 2+ years of accounting/finance experience preferred.
• Experience with fixed assets and capital projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end activities for fixed assets and construction accounting.
• Support annual capital budgets and forecasts for all business units.
• Participate in accounting for projects under construction, including billing and capitalization.
• Reconcile fixed asset general ledger accounts timely.
• Prepare periodic data and reporting for internal and external users.

POSITION SUMMARY

(Objective/Purpose of Position): The Staff Accountant – Fixed Assets position is responsible for assisting with accurate and timely recording of accounting transactions related to fixed assets as well as helping with the capital expenditure request process and budget development for all business units.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

(List in order of importance, indicate the essential responsibility and the % of time dedicated to each. (Cumulative total Essential and Non-Essential Functions must add up to 100%, no responsibility should be less than 5%)

• Assist with various month-end activities related to fixed assets and construction accounting, including the closing of sub-ledgers, preparation of various journal entries and review of general ledger account balances. 25%
• Support the development and approval process of the annual capital budgets and forecasts for both operational and strategic projects for all business units. 25%
• Participate in the accounting for projects under construction, including billing developers, preparing reporting for senior management and ensuring the proper capitalization of the assets in the Fixed Asset System. 20%
• Ensure timely reconciliation of general ledger accounts related to fixed assets and construction activities. 20%
• Prepare periodic data and reporting as requested by internal and external users. 10%
