Job summary

Top Prospect Group in Trumbull, CT is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our finance team, contributing to core financial operations, month-end close, reconciliations, and reporting.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, with 3–7 years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills. Experience in professional services or related environments is a plus and training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 3–7 years of accounting experience required.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Advanced Excel skills required.
• Experience in professional services, financial services, banking, wealth management, real estate, title insurance, nonprofit, or similar environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and support month-end close activities.
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and assist with financial reporting.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash reconciliations.
• Support audit and tax preparation activities.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Work collaboratively with finance, operations, and business stakeholders.
