Job summary

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly and year-end close of the general ledger and prepare journal entries.
• Track and record fixed assets and debt transactions, and assist with capital expenditures.
• Prepare footnote disclosures for the annual audit and support university audits.
• Collaborate with Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets and Sr. Accountant, Debt on accounting entries.
• Monitor leases, projects, and procurement invoices related to capital activities.

Prepares journal entries and various reports for the University. Actively involved in the monthly and annual close of the general ledger and providing support to the University audit. Prepares accurate and timely general ledger account reconciliation each month.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Perform monthly and year-end close of the general ledger. Create, record and approve various journal entries.* Work closely with the Sr. Accountant, Fixed Assets to track and update capital expenditures during the year and capitalize expenses as approved.* Perform a physical inspection of University assets on an annual basis.* Track University leases (lessee and lessor) and prepare annual journal entries in accordance with lease accounting guidance.* Set up and monitor University projects. Process procurement invoices related to capital projects.* Assist with the preparation of footnote disclosures for the annual audit.* Work closely with the Sr. Accountant, Fixed Assets to track and record transactions related to University bonds and debt.* Perform other duties as assigned.
