Job summary

AGS Company Automotive Solutions in Muskegon, Michigan is seeking an entry-level Staff Accountant to own the accounts payable cycle and support general accounting under the Controller. You will manage vendor invoices, payments, reconciliations, and assist with journal entries and month-end close while looking to simplify and automate finance workflows with AI tools.

This role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Purchasing, and People & Culture, plus ongoing development

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 0–2 years of accounting, AP, or bookkeeping experience; internships and part-time roles count.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; comfort with formulas, sorting, filtering, and pivot tables.
• Curiosity about AI tools and automation, and willingness to learn and apply them to finance work.
• Experience with an ERP system required.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices accurately and on time with proper coding and approvals.
• Manage weekly payment cycle (checks, ACH, cards).
• Reconcile vendor statements and maintain vendor data.
• Support journal entries, month-end close, and reconciliations.
• Assist with audits, tax prep, and process improvement using automation.
