Job summary

Wisconsin Steel & Tube Corporation is seeking an experienced accounting professional to prepare month-end financial statements in accordance with company policies and procedures.

The role includes month-end close, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset tagging, recording debt payments, and supporting the accounting team with Billing, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable. Strong MS Office skills and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 3–5 years related experience.
• Knowledge of financial statements and accounting principles.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end accounting functions and prepare financial statements for review by Accounting Supervisor.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of all bank accounts.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy.
• Tag and monitor fixed assets.
• Record debt payments and monitor debt covenants compliance.
• Assist in backup roles to cover all aspects of the accounting team (Billing, A/P, A/R).
• Prepare reports and analyses (budgets, cash flow projections, forecasts).
• Provide recommendations for cost savings or profitability improvements.

Job description

Summary: Responsible for preparing the month-end financial statements in accordance with company and accounting policies and procedures.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Perform month-end accounting functions and prepare financial statements for review by Accounting Supervisor.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of all bank accounts.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts to ensure their accuracy.
• Tag and monitor fixed assets.
• Record debt payments and monitor compliance with debt covenants.
• Assist in backup roles to cover all facets of the accounting team, including but not limited to: Billing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable.
• Responsible for the preparation of reports and analysis in areas such as budgets, financial plans statistical reports, cash flow projections and business forecasts.
• Make recommendations to management regarding cost savings or profit generating opportunities and profitability improvement strategies.
• Coordinate with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, acquisition activity, new business plan, trended future requirements, government requirements and operating forecasts.
• Provide departmental support when required. When month end is complete, assist in areas as needed.
• Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or three to five years related experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
