Job summary

T E C Industrial Inc in Solana Beach, CA is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage multi-entity financials, month-end close, and rigorous reporting. This exempt, full-time role requires a 4-year degree and solid GAAP experience.

The successful candidate will prepare management reports, analyze variances, oversee cash, A/R and A/P, handle tax filings for entities, and coordinate with AR/AP teams while upholding company policies and internal controls.

  • 2+ years public accounting experience.

  • Proficient in MS Office and accounting software.

Responsibilities

  • Perform accounting functions including revenue, cost of goods sold, cash, A/R and A/P and bad debt allowance monthly; back-up month-end duties as needed.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly management reports with variance analyses and narratives.
  • Test and approve system reports for management and GL reconciliations.
  • Month-end workbook reconciliations and P&L analysis for entities.
  • Handle sales tax filings for assigned entities.
  • Serve as contact for general manager and operations personnel; provide timely responses.
  • Collaborate with AR and AP teams and coordinate bank reconciliations.
  • Document policies, procedures, and workflows; maintain project logs.
  • Contribute to special projects and ensure compliance with internal controls.

Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform accounting functions as assigned including, revenue, cost of goods sold, cash, cash applied to A/R and A/P, and bad debt allowance on a monthly basis. Back-up month-end duties assigned to other Senior Accountants.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly management reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports. Provide follow-up and documentation of significant variances.
  • Test and receive final approval for system reports required for management, financial reporting and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Responsible for month end workbook reconciliations for assigned entities and P&L analysis for assigned entities.
  • Responsible for sales tax filings for assigned entities.
  • Serve as contact person for general manager and operation personal working for assigned entities and demonstrate a working knowledge of the business of each entity and provide timely and accurate responses to finance and accounting related questions.
  • Serve as a integrated teammate with the AR and AP team members working on assigned entities.
  • Coordinate and resolve various issues with bank such as cleared check differences, bank fee anomalies, targeted balance calculations and enhancements to online services.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulatory guidance and internal policies & procedures.
  • Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain project log for Senior Accountant position.
  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.
  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Bachelor's degree of accounting or finance
  • 2-5 years’ experience in the related area
  • 2 or more years of public accounting experience
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook or similar programs.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages for both general ledger and statutory accounting.
  • Experience in a multi-entity environment.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.

Summary

Summary/Objective

While working in a multi-entity environment, assist with financial statement preparation, weekly management reporting, inventory & cost of goods sold analysis, month-end close, bank reconciling items, etc. Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for monthly general ledger close. Assist in the preparation and distribution of monthly financial statements. Ensure that all deliverables comply with regulatory guidance and professional standards. Provide assistance to manager with external audits. Assist with accounting related and general ledger projects. Assist with special projects assigned by management.
