Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or related field.
• GAAP and GAAS knowledge required.
• Familiar with OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) procurement requirements.
• Experience with government grant/contract financial requirements.
• Familiar with AccuFund or similar government fund accounting software.
• Ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken form.
• Ability to resolve conflicts with coworkers and stakeholders.
• Driver’s license (Washington State) and insurable.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and sign NDA.
• Background check and pre-employment drug test required.

HOURS & CLASSIFICATION: Full time, salary/exempt
PAY RANGE: $74,500 to $80,500, depends on qualifications

GENERAL DESCRIPTION (summary may not include all duties):
Under the direction of the Finance Director, the Staff Accountant is responsible for various general tasks within the Upper Skagit Tribe Accounting department including: maintain daily cash reports for depository accounts, assist with month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing, prepare monthly journal entries, assist with annual audit preparation, may assist with grant accounting duties, analyzing grant costs to ensure they are valid and reimbursable in accordance with grant agreement provisions, and other duties as assigned. You must be comfortable working independently, multitasking effectively, and delivering accurate results within a dynamic office environment subject to frequent interruptions.

Minimum Qualifications

• 1. Must have a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a related field and at least three (3) years of comparable accounting work experience or an associate’s degree and at least seven (7) years of comparable work experience.
• 2. Must be knowledgeable about Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS)
• 3. Must have experience implementing the procurement compliance requirements of the OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200). Must be familiar with Federal and State grant and contract financial requirements.
• 4. Must be familiar with AccuFund or other governmental fund accounting software systems
• 5. Must have experience implementing the procurement compliance requirements of the OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200). Must be familiar with Federal and State grant and contract financial requirements.
• 6. Must have the ability to communicate information verbally and in written form in a clear, concise, accurate and professional manner.
• 7. Must have the ability to successfully resolve conflicts in the conduct of work activities with coworkers and stakeholders.
• 8. Must have a valid unrestricted Washington State Driver's License and be insurable under the Tribe’s motor vehicle insurance policy.
• 9. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information and be willing to sign a confidentiality/non-disclosure agreement.
• 10. Must pass a background check including a criminal background check.
• 11. Must pass a pre-employment drug test and comply with the Tribe’s Substance Abuse Policy including random drug screening.
