Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; will consider experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, governmental or corporate accounting preferred.
  • Experience with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with federal grants and Single Audit.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and GASB standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain general ledger and subsidiary ledgers; prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual statements.
  • Perform journal entries and reconciliations; assist with month-end and year-end close.
  • Monitor federal, state, and tribal grant expenditures for Uniform Guidance compliance.
  • Prepare grant financial reports and reimbursement requests; track budgets.
  • Prepare internal financial reports for governance and management; assist with budgets.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and support Single Audit processes.

Job Summary:The Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), applicable tribal policies, and federal grant regulations. This position supports the accounting operations of the tribal government and/or tribal enterprises by performing general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, grant accounting, budgeting, and audit support.Primary Responsibilities:General AccountingMaintain and reconcile the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Record journal entries and ensure accurate classification of transactions.Perform monthly bank, investment, and balance sheet account reconciliations.Review and analyze financial data for accuracy and completeness.Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.Grant Accounting & Uniform GuidanceMonitor federal, state, and tribal grant expenditures for compliance with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200).Ensure allowable, allocable, and reasonable costs are charged to grant programs.Prepare grant financial reports and reimbursement requests.Track grant budgets and expenditures to prevent overspending.Maintain documentation supporting grant expenditures.Assist departments with grant compliance and financial reporting requirements.Support Single Audit (Uniform Guidance Audit) preparation.Financial ReportingPrepare internal financial reports for Corporate Board, executive management, and company directors.Assist in preparing annual budgets and budget amendments.Analyze budget-to-actual variances and provide recommendations.Develop financial forecasts and cash flow reports.Compliance & Internal ControlsEnsure compliance with:GAAPGovernmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB)Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200)Tribal financial policiesFederal and state regulationsAssist with development and maintenance of internal controls.Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce risk.Audit SupportCoordinate with external auditors during annual financial audits and Single Audits.Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.Resolve audit findings and implement corrective actions when necessary.Accounts Payable/ReceivableReview and approve invoices for proper coding.Monitor receivable collections and outstanding balances.Assist with fixed asset accounting and inventory reconciliation.Other DutiesAssist with special financial projects.Cross-train with accounting staff.Follow all policies and procedures set forth by the UKB Federal Corporation.Other duties as assigned by supervisor.Supervisory Responsibilities:This position has no supervisory responsibilities.Education:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.Will consider experience in lieu of.License/Certifications:Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred but not required.Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) preferred but not required.Experience:Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.Experience with governmental or corporate accounting preferred.Experience administering or accounting for federal grants preferred.Experience with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) strongly preferred.Experience preparing for Single Audits preferred.Experience working with Native American tribal governments or tribal enterprises preferred.Knowledge of tribal sovereignty and federal funding requirements preferred.Experience with indirect cost allocations and cost principles preferred.Strong knowledge of GAAP.Knowledge of GASB standards preferred.Thorough understanding of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200).Knowledge of federal grant accounting and compliance.Ability to prepare complex financial reports.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Experience with ERP/accounting software (MIP Fund Accounting, Sage Intacct, Oracle, Tyler, Workday, or similar).Ability to maintain confidentiality.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Follow all guidelines, regulations, standards, and Federal state and tribal policies.Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s license and a clear background check.Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment.Ability to attend meetings and training sessions.Work Environment:Office environment with occasional travel for training or meetings.Occasional overtime during payroll processing, month-end, fiscal year-end, and audit periods.This position may have care of or contact with Indian children.Applicants must meet the stated minimum qualifications for the position as listed in the job posting.
