Job summary

The position involves journal entries, reconciliations, and ERP system enhancements, with exposure to multiple accounting areas in a manufacturing environment. Strong detail orientation and communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Publicly traded company experience or SOX environment preferred.
  • Experience with large ERP systems (SAP/JD Edwards/Oracle) is required.
  • Strong GAAP/IFRS knowledge and general ledger accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Support accounting across divisions and multiple ERP systems.
  • Prepare and record month-end/year-end journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements.
  • Assist in financial statements preparation (balance sheet, P&L).
  • Maintain fixed asset ledger and depreciation entries.
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting and audits.

Staff Accountant

SP Industries, Inc., an ATS Company is seeking a detail-orientedStaff Accountant to support the General Ledger function across several manufacturing divisions. This individual-contributor role is responsible for supporting monthly financial close process, maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. This position provides exposure to multiple accounting areas within a manufacturing environment and works closely with business partners across operations, supply chain, finance, and external auditors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support accounting functions across several divisions, in multiple ERP systems (JD Edwards, SAP, proprietary ERPs).
  • Execute the month-end and year-end close processes by preparing and recording accrual, deferral, intercompany and reclassification journal entries.
  • Conduct reconciliations of assigned balance sheet accounts, analyzing transactions to ensure balances are accurate and substantiated. Analyze fluctuations
    and investigate variances.
  • Review financial transactions to ensure proper accounting treatment. Ensure accounting activities comply with company policies and IFRS.
  • Execute assigned SOX controls and maintain supporting documentation; support internal/external audit requests and testing.
  • Maintain the company’s fixed asset ledger, including the recording of asset additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Analyze and process financial data related to foreign currency exchanges.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, such as the balance sheet and profit and loss statements.
  • Participate in the implementation of and improvements to financial accounting ERP systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and reporting accuracy.
  • Collaborate with various departments to provide accounting support and resolve financial data inquiries.
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager or Controller.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Publicly traded company (with SOX environment) or public accounting experience is required.
  • Experience working within a SOX-controlled environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP / IFRS and general ledger accounting.
  • Experience with large ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar.
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, Power Query, and data analysis.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and hands on experience with automation and AI tools and curiosity to learn and use such tools.
  • Experience with financial reporting and account reconciliations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Completes assigned reconciliations accurately and on time each month.
  • Demonstrates ownership of month-end close activities with minimal supervision.
  • Maintains audit-ready documentation and SOX compliance.
  • Identifies and implements process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Develops strong partnerships across finance and operational teams.
