Job summary

CFS in Verona, PA is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The Staff Accountant will support AP, AR, GL, month-end close, AIA billing, and union payroll across multiple projects in a fast-paced construction environment.

You will collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate billing, perform reconciliations, assist with audits, and maintain thorough documentation while upholding strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounting experience.
• Previous construction accounting experience required.
• Experience with AIA billing and/or union payroll strongly preferred.
• Experience working with an ERP or accounting software system.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and full-cycle accounting processes.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
• Process and code vendor invoices and ensure proper approvals and documentation.
• Prepare and submit AIA billings, pay applications, and related documentation.
• Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate and timely project billing.
• Assist with union payroll processing, including reviewing timecards, wage rates, deductions, and union requirements.
• Perform bank, account, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with financial reporting and construction-related accounting projects.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and respond to vendor and internal inquiries; support audits with documentation.
