About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support day-to-day accounting and financial operations for an established manufacturing company in Victor, NY. The ideal candidate will have strong general accounting knowledge, hands-on experience with financial reconciliations and month-end closing, and a background in manufacturing accounting.

This role works closely with finance, operations, and management to maintain accurate financial records, support financial reporting, and ensure timely completion of accounting activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare accurate journal entries.

• Perform bank, balance sheet, and general ledger account reconciliations.

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.

• Prepare and maintain financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules.

• Support cost accounting and inventory accounting activities within a manufacturing environment.

• Review financial transactions for accuracy and compliance with accounting policies.

• Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies or unusual variances.

• Maintain organized accounting records and documentation.

• Assist with audits, financial reviews, and internal control procedures.

• Collaborate with operations and other departments to ensure accurate financial information.

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting accuracy.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on manufacturing accounting experience.

• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• Experience with general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

• Working knowledge of financial reporting and month-end closing procedures.

• Experience with cost accounting, inventory accounting, or manufacturing-related financial transactions.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, spreadsheets, and financial reporting.

• Experience using accounting software or ERP systems.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent attention to detail, integrity, and ability to maintain confidential financial information.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
