Job summary

  • Prepares and posts monthly journal entries including accruals and prepaid
  • Assists with monthly close and monthly reporting
  • Supports accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed
  • Participates in audits and prepares work papers as required

Job Summary

The Staff Accountant role will perform a variety of general accounting and financial reporting tasks. This individual must have a good working knowledge of AP, AR, GL, account reconciliations, financial reporting, intercompany accounting, and program/job costing. The Staff Accountant role requires excellent knowledge of accounting concepts and the adherence to established policies and procedures while exercising creativity to assess problems and recommend solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Reconciles bank accounts, credit card transactions, and intercompany accounts
  • Prepares and posts monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and other recurring transactions
  • Assists team with monthly close and associated monthly reporting
  • Supports accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed
  • Identifies areas of improvement and potential cost savings
  • Ability to develop MS Excel models to summarize large data sets.
  • Participates in preparation and review of audit materials and work papers as required for internal and external audits
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Teams, and Outlook and in using Accounting related computer systems to setup queries, enter data and process information
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive financial and government contract information
  • Performs other accounting and finance related duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Self-motivated and focused individual with strong attention to detail and high ethical standards
  • Highly organized
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP
  • Ability to work independently or as part of team
  • Comfortable with changing priorities
  • Proactive in identifying and solving complex problems
  • Strong organizational skills and analytical / logical approach
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to work with customers, vendors, and company stakeholder’s
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or working towards degree
  • 2+ years’ experience in accounting is required
  • Advanced MS Excel skills are required
  • Strong computer skills to include Microsoft (Outlook, SharePoint, Word, etc.)
  • Experience with DCAA/DCMA audits is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP system preferred
  • International experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of SmartSheet a plus
Physical Demands and Abilities
  • Regularly spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers
  • Regularly move from sitting to standing positions effortlessly
  • Frequently work on projects that require deadlines
Working Conditions

Most of the work will be completed in an office environment.
