Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in business administration, preferably with a concentration in accounting.
• Knowledge of GAAP, especially in fixed assets.
• Knowledge of Accounting Software and skilled in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Fixed Asset Accounting: manage fixed assets, tracking, reporting and compliance.
• CIP: track costs, capitalize when appropriate and classify expenditures.
• Month-End Close: post monthly journal entries and analyze accounts.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: assist in annual budget preparation.
• Tax Preparation Support: assist in annual NC property valuation for taxes.
• Project Tracking: manage tooling projects accounting and deferments.
• Physical Inventory: assist planning and execution of inventories.
• Reporting: prepare and analyze daily and weekly reports.

Keystone Powdered Metal Company, a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a full-time Staff Accountant who will be working in our St. Marys, PA location.This person will report to the Accounting Manager.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Fixed Asset Accounting: manage and oversee the accounting of fixed assets, ensuring accurate tracking, reporting, and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Fixed Asset Tracking and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all fixed assets.
  • Depreciation calculation: calculate and record depreciation for fixed assets that are in line with accounting standards and company policies.
  • Asset Capitalization and Disposals: Ensure proper capitalization of new assets and follow accounting policies regarding capitalizing versus expensing. Record asset disposals, sales, and write-offs, ensuring appropriate gain or loss recognition.
  • Tax Compliance: Prepare asset register to assist in preparation of tax filings
• CIP: tracking and managing the costs associated with CIP projects, maintaining accurate recording of expenditures, capitalizing costs when projects are completed and confirming costs are properly classified.
• Month-End Close: calculate and post monthly recurring and miscellaneous journal entries. Update and analyze account analyses to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
• Tax Preparation Support: Assist in annual preparation of NC property valuation used in assessing property tax due.
• Project Tracking: Maintain the accounting for tooling projects (X-Projects). This includes the recognition and deferral of tooling sales and expenses.
• Physical Inventory: Assist in the planning, organizing and carrying out physical inventories of raw material, work in process, finished goods and selected supplies for all locations.
• Reporting: Prepare and analyze daily and weekly reports as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in business administration, preferably with a concentration in accounting.
• Knowledge of GAAP, especially in fixed assets.
• Knowledge of Accounting Software and skilled in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Compensation may vary depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, competencies and location. Base pay is one part of the total compensation and benefits package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
