Job summary

Optim Recruiting is seeking a Staff Accountant for a food and beverage manufacturer in Riverside, CA. You will partner with the Controller, own close tasks, manage cost and inventory accounting, and interface with external auditors.

This role offers variety beyond routine tasks and clear visibility into the full accounting function. You will handle GL entries, inventory and cost responsibilities, asset depreciation, and tax filings, with opportunities to contribute to forecasting and process

Qualifications

• 2+ years of GL accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Exposure to cost accounting is a plus.
• Advanced Excel with pivot tables and financial modeling.

Responsibilities

• Execute monthly journal entries and perform account reconciliations.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end close and prepare balance sheet and income statement.
• Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
• Review monthly inventory transactions and reconciliations.
• Review standard costs and report on variances.
• Partner with sales teams to provide sales reports and commissions updates.
• Prepare and submit property tax filings and quarterly sales/use tax filings.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed.
• Contribute to forecasting and process improvement initiatives.

A food and beverage manufacturer is hiring a Staff Accountant to partner with the Controller and own a broad slice of the accounting function. This isn't a tasker type role.

You'll carry your own close responsibilities, maintain cost and inventory accounting, handle property and sales tax filings, and interface directly with external auditors. If you've done GL accounting in a manufacturing environment and you want a seat with real variety and a clear line of sight to the Controller, this is worth a look.

What you'll own

• Execute monthly journal entries and perform account reconciliations
• Contribute to month-end and year-end close — including preparing the balance sheet and and income statement
• Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules
• Review monthly inventory transactions and reconciliations
• Review standard costs and report on variances
• Partner with sales teams to provide sales reports and updates on commissions
• Prepare and submit property tax filings and quarterly sales and use tax filings
• Assist with AP and AR functions as needed
• Contribute to forecasting activities and process improvement initiatives

What you bring

• 2+ years of general ledger accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Exposure to cost accounting (you don't need to be a cost accountant)
• Advanced Excel — pivot tables, nested formulas, financial modeling
