About Us:
The Providence Group is a boutique real estate development company with vertical integrations in property management, architecture, and construction. We are expanding our accounting department and seeking a skilled Staff Accountant to support our growing portfolio. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in real estate accounting, with knowledge of construction accounting as a plus. This position reports directly to our Owner.
Responsibilities: Full-Cycle Accounting & Financial Management:
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports.
- Maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities and ensure compliance with accounting principles.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and intercompany transactions.
- Prepare cost certificates and monitor job costs for development projects.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Manage audit preparation and documentation, ensuring compliance with internal controls.
Property & Construction Accounting:
- Manage property accounting using Buildium for rental properties.
- Utilize QuickBooks Online for the property management company’s accounting.
- Assist the Controller in managing construction project accounting using Foundation software.
- Track job costs, review project financials, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Prepare and file required financial reports and disclosures.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards.
- Lead audit preparation, supporting external auditors.
- Implement and maintain best practices in financial controls and efficiency.
HR & Benefits Administration (10% of Time):
- Oversee employee benefits administration, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance.
- Manage insurance billing, ensure accurate premium payments, and maintain employee benefit records.
- Process payroll, maintain payroll records, manage deductions, and address payroll-related inquiries.
- Support employees with benefits enrollment and compliance-related tasks.
Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification: CPA preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required. Preferred experience that focused on property and construction accounting.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with Buildium, QuickBooks Online, Foundation, or similar accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting and financial data analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple entities and intercompany transactions.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience with audit preparation and compliance.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
