Job summary

FirstLight seeks a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of a fiber telecommunications company. This role maintains accounting records for Cost of Sale, supports month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, and performs account reconciliations.

The Staff Accountant will work closely with finance, accounting and operation teams to ensure network-related costs are recorded accurately and on time, with opportunities to improve processes and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• 2-5 years of general accounting experience.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and data reconciliation.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
• Strong ERP skills, Netsuite a plus.

Responsibilities

• Complete general ledger account analysis and monthly accrual calculations for Cost of Sale accounts.
• Prepare and post journal entries with complete supporting documentation.
• Analyze account balances and variances, research discrepancies, and prepare correcting entries.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities and meet established deadlines.

The Staff Accountant works closely with finance, accounting and operation teams to ensure that network-related costs are recorded accurately and on time.

• Complete general ledger account analysis and monthly accrual calculations for Cost of Sale accounts.
• Prepare and post journal entries with complete supporting documentation.

Required Qualifications
