Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Execute assigned month-end close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries.
• Complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Evaluate fluctuations in balance sheet and income statement accounts from period to period.
• Maintain the general ledger and support opening/closing of accounting periods.
• Review financial information for proper classification and compliance with accounting standards; participate in process improvements.

What You’ll Actually Do

• Manage Close Process: Execute assigned month-end close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries, to ensure timely completion of financial periods.
• Reconcile Accounts: Complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, investigating and resolving reconciling items and variances to maintain ledger accuracy.
• Analyze Financial Data: Evaluate fluctuations in balance sheet and income statement accounts between reporting periods and against prior-year results for accuracy and reasonableness.
• Maintain General Ledger: Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, including supporting the opening and closing of accounting periods and proper classification of financial information.
• Ensure Compliance & Support Projects: Review financial information for proper classification and compliance with accounting standards, and participate in process improvement initiatives and special assignments.

The Must-Haves

• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required, establishing the fundamental educational background for this early career accounting role.
• Experience: Practical experience in general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting processes is essential.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems; solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); excellent verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
