Job summary

Wahl Family Heating, Cooling & Plumbing is seeking a sharp Staff Accountant to own the day-to-day accounting function in our Pittsburgh-area office. You will handle the full AR and AP cycle and help move our growing company toward real-time reporting.

You’ll work with QuickBooks and ServiceTitan, while leveraging Excel for analysis; recent grads with a strong foundation are encouraged to apply, and hands-on experience is valued. This is ownership from day one in a family-owned business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Hands-on accounting experience; internships count.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel; ServiceTitan, Sage, or Dynamics GP a plus.
• Knowledge of AR, AP, PO systems and revenue recognition basics.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• The full AR and AP cycle: aging reports, discrepancies, collections follow-up with our call center, billing adjustments, credits, and write-offs.
• Vendor invoices coded and paid on time, matched against purchase orders and receiving reports.
• Purchase order audits, variance flags, and clean approval files.
• Monthly revenue recognition support and keeping the books accurate and review-ready.
• Invoice disputes and payment arrangements handled professionally with customers.

Wahl has been the name Pittsburgh trusts since 1980, and we are growing fast. We are family-owned, not private equity, and we are rebuilding our accounting function from the ground up. We are looking for one sharp, detail-driven Staff Accountant to own it.

This is not a job where you are one of forty and never touch anything real. If you want serious responsibility early in your career, the kind a giant firm will not hand you, this is it. You will run the day-to-day books for a company doing real volume, work in modern tools instead of paper, and see your work move the business directly.

What you will own
