Job summary

Optimal Solutions & Technologies (OST, Inc.) is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will handle general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and possess a solid understanding of government contracting, including FAR, CAS, and DCAA.

This full-time role requires strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups) and collaboration with project management and compliance teams to support audits and month-end closes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience with emphasis on reconciliations and GL accounting.
• Prior experience with a government contractor is required.
• FAR, CAS, and DCAA familiarity.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills: pivot tables, lookups, formulas.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations for data integrity.
• Prepare and post GL entries, accruals, and adjustments per GAAP.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure compliance with federal regulations and internal controls for government contracting.
• Assist with audits (DCAA and financial statements).
• Maintain documentation for accounting procedures and policies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project management and compliance.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have experience in general ledger (GL) accounting, account reconciliations, and a solid understanding of government contracting, including cost principles and regulatory compliance (FAR, CAS, DCAA).

Key Responsibilities

• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
• Prepare and post general ledger entries, accruals, and adjustments in accordance with GAAP.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure compliance with federal regulations and internal controls specific to government contracting.
• Assist with audits, including DCAA and financial statement audits.
• Maintain documentation for accounting procedures and policies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including project management and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with emphasis on reconciliations and GL accounting.
• Prior experience working for a government contractor is required.
• Familiarity with FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and advanced formulas.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Experience with indirect rate structures and cost allocations.

This is a full time position paying a base salary of $65,000, full benefits, and has possible bonus potential based on merit and performance.
