Job summary

Mackinnon Bruce International is seeking a highly organized Staff Accountant for a rapidly-growing Mexican vegetable distributor serving customers across North America. You will manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensure financial accuracy, and provide timely reporting to support business decisions and growth.

This role emphasizes strong Excel skills, experience with accounting software, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment at our Nogales, AZ site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software applications.
• Experience in the Fresh Produce industry is strongly advantageous.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cash reconciliations and monitor cash flow activities.
• Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports and statements.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Analyze operating costs and identify areas for improved efficiency.
• Maintain and reconcile grower accounts, including advances and preparation of final settlements.
• Process banking transactions, including wire transfers.
• Manage petty cash accounts and related reconciliations.
• Support year-end closing processes.
• Coordinate with external CPA, auditors, tax advisors, and other financial service providers.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and reporting requirements.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance accounting and financial operations.
• Prepare management reports and provide financial insights to support executive decision-making.
