Job summary

McAllister Towing is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our New York office. The role reports to the Controller and supports month-end close, tax filings, and audit preparations. Proficiency in Excel and Word is essential.

The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of accounting experience, a bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, and the ability to work independently to deliver accurate financial reports on time.

• Minimum of 4 years relevant accounting experience with strong debit/credit knowledge.
• Ability to work independently to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects.

Responsibilities

• Post, monitor, and review transactions in the general ledger.
• Run and review accounts receivable and accounts payable aging.
• Prepare and file various online returns for multiple legal entities (corporate, sales, property taxes).
• Maintain tax calendar with due dates and frequencies.
• Assist in month-end close including balance sheet and P&L analysis.
• Prepare documents for annual audit.
• Prepare ad-hoc reports and other duties as needed.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; strong spreadsheet skills.

Staff Accountant

Reports to

The Staff Accountant reports to Controller.

None.

Description of Duties

• Post, monitor, and review transactions in the general ledger.
• Run and review AR and AP aging.
• Prepare and file various on-line returns for multiple legal entities for corporate, sales, and property taxes.
• Maintain tax calendar with due dates, websites, filing frequencies, etc.
• Assist in month and closing including balance sheet and P&L analysis.
• Prepare documents for annual audit.
• Prepare ad-hoc reports and other duties as needed.
• Excellent use of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel; very good with spreadsheets.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Finance and Operations a plus.
• A bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in accounting with strong debit credit knowledge.
• Must be able to work independently to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
