Job summary

Buckingham Search in New Lenox, IL is seeking a Staff Accountant with growth potential toward Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager. Working closely with the CFO, you will help with month-end close, cash management, financial reporting, and process improvements while supporting internal audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• 2–5 years of accounting experience (public accounting or industry).
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close.
• Experience with high-volume cash and bank reconciliations.
• ERP or accounting software experience (QuickBooks is a plus).
• Transportation, logistics, fleet, distribution, manufacturing, or other high-volume environments.
• Supporting external audits.
• Process improvement and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Own daily and monthly cash and bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Maintain fixed assets and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with internal financial reporting and management reporting.
• Partner with operations, billing, and leadership to resolve accounting issues.
• Support annual audits and ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes and strengthen internal controls.
