Who you are

Metropolis is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team and ensure the financial integrity of client contracts through expert P&L management and comprehensive reporting. You will serve as a tech-forward partner during our migration to Oracle, managing complex billing cycles and lease accruals while building strong relationships with operations teams and internal stakeholders. Your work will directly impact our ability to scale by maintaining extreme accuracy across high-volume financial processes.

What you’ll do
  • Ensure all payments and fees are recorded accurately and tie directly to contractual agreements
  • Finalize client invoices by their respective due dates and manage contractual compliance
  • Prepare manual schedules and reports for clients, ensuring revenue summaries and payroll tie to statements
  • Record monthly journal entries in accordance with client contract terms and GAAP
  • Manage month-end and quarterly close activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and scalability
  • Execute lease reporting and manage accruals for subcontractors and accounts payable
  • Conduct Client, Parent, and Lease P&L reviews while monitoring expense caps and contractual requirements
  • Support annual client and external audits by performing required analytical reviews
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations for accrued rent, accounts receivable, and trust bank accounts
  • Perform weekly accounts receivable scrubs to review for payment accuracy and aging
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of professional accounting experience
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with operations teams, clients, and internal stakeholders
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage high-volume processes
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

The anticipated base salary for this position is $70,000.00 USD to $80,000.00 USD annually. The actual base salary offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant\'s qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base salary is one component of Metropolis\' total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans and more.
