Job summary

First Horizon Bank is seeking an Accountant I in the Corporate Accounting department. The role focuses on reconciling accounts and posting general ledger entries to ensure statements reflect accurate data and comply with procedures.

The Accountant I will research discrepancies, support other departments on GL issues, and help management communicate improvements and policy updates across the business. Hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm, onsite at corporate Memphis.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting required.
• Prior corporate accounting experience preferred.
• Familiarity with GAAP.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Perform reconciliations of accounts and general ledger entries to ensure accuracy.
• Verify proper inclusion of transactions in financial statements.
• Research and resolve discrepancies identified during reviews.
• Assist other departments in researching and correcting general ledger entries.
• Provide guidance and respond to questions to improve business processes.

Summary

The Accountant I reports to the Accounting Manager assigned to the Corporate Accounting department. Primary role includes performing reconciliation of accounts and general ledger entries to ensure accuracy, proper completion, approval, compliance with departmental guidelines and procedures, and proper inclusion in the financial statements. Participates in the research and resolution of any discrepancies found during the review. Assists other departments in research and correction of general ledger entries as needed. Provides direction and guidance needed to advance the employees' knowledge of the Company and its guidelines and procedures. Lends guidance to other areas by responding to questions and assisting in problem resolution. Works with Management to keep business processes current and at a level required to service the company. Maintains a current knowledge of accounting and First Horizon Bank's policies. Assists Management in communicating improvements, change and enhancements.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Accounting
• Prior related work experience in a Corporate Accounting department preferable
• Familiarity with GAAP
• Ability to effectively work independently
