Job summary

CFS is seeking a Staff Accountant in Madison, WI who enjoys both hands-on accounting work and helping develop others. You will join a growing, family-owned organization investing in leadership development, succession planning, and the future of the business.

In this role you will prepare and review monthly financial statements, manage the general ledger, and support period-end close, while mentoring and backing up the Accounting Manager and collaborating with an offshore team when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong understanding of debits, credits, and general ledger accounting.
• Experience in a multi-entity accounting environment preferred.
• Public accounting experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly financial statements.
• Manage general ledger activity, including journal entries and month-end accruals.
• Support period-end close processes.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and record depreciation.
• Serve as a backup to the Accounting Manager.
• Assist with mentoring and supporting the accounting team.
