First Chicago Insurance Company is seeking a Staff Accountant for our Lexington, KY office. You will handle daily cash processing, deposits, journal entries, and reconciliations in collaboration with internal departments.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and at least two years of accounting experience, with strong skills in Excel, Word, and Sage. Insurance industry experience is a plus. This is an on-site position in Lexington, KY.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years accounting experience
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, and accounting systems (Sage)
• Experience with cash applications, ACH, and bank reconciliations
• Policy and claim administration system experience (Sapiens Stingray a plus)

Responsabilités

• Generate and review daily cash and activity reports from policy system, credit card and ACH processors, and the bank
• Apply premium payments received by mail and reconcile deposit totals to payments applied
• Prepare bank deposits and deliver them to the bank
• Prepare and post daily cash journal entries
• Primary point of contact with the bank and internal departments for check verification, missing endorsements or signatures, and stop payments
• Process ACH returns, update the affected policies, and notify customer service
• Print premium refund checks and maintain the check register
• Distribute mail received in the company P.O. boxes
• Route vendor invoices to department heads for approval
• Prepare month-end claims reports and post month-end journal entries
• Verify and post inter-company journal entries
• Assist with other projects as needed
