We're in a fast-paced industry, and our support team is no exception. This Staff Accountant position will assist the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the accounting close and reporting process for Backhaul Direct. This Staff Accountant will be responsible for ensuring timely payments to vendors and maintaining accurate financial records. Our ideal team candidate will have strong financial acumen and a solid understanding of accounting principles with the ability to be accurate and timely.

What will you do as a Staff Accountant?

• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries to document business transactions, inputs journals into accounting system
• Capture and record all accounting related transactions
• Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments, including checks and ACH payments
• ERP accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems and ensuring compliance with GAAP
• Primarily responsible for ownership over the accounts payable process, enhancement of the accounts payable process, and assisting with closing the books and records for month end, quarter-end, and year-end
• Review GL coding and cost center assignment to ensure correct management reporting
• Analyze respective p/l accounts for unusual fluctuations
• Support the development and enhancement of accounting principles, practices, and procedures to satisfy SOX requirements
• Conduct timely and accurate bank reconciliations, transactions and compliance monthly
• Collaborate with AR teams to ensure overall accounting needs are met
• Process audit reports for electronic freight and non-electronic invoices
• Work on multiple duties, tasks, and projects, leveraging technical and issue solving skills
  
  
  

What skills and/or qualifications do you need to be successful as a Staff Accountant?

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
• 3-5 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting preferred
• Knowledge of US GAAP regulations
• Proven customer service and/or accounting-specific experience
• Experience with Oracle NetSuite preferred
• Familiarity with corporate finance principles and practices
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Suite, with an emphasis in Excel
• Self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Possess strong work ethic and desire for continuous improvement
• Strong organizational and time management skills, driving tasks to completion
