Job summary

The Saint Constantine School is seeking a Staff Accountant to manage daily financial activities and support the CFO. Responsibilities include recording deposits, preparing monthly bank reconciliations, reconciling accounts across accounting and fundraising systems, and forecasting cash for timely bill payments.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Record and deposit manual deposits using the remote scanner in a timely fashion.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all cash accounts by the 10th of each month.
  • Reconcile transactions within Accounting and Fundraising (Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser's Edge) at least quarterly.
  • Prepare weekly cash forecast for timely bill payments.
  • Record journal entries and complete account reconciliations for property management tracking.
  • Update fixed asset ledger and record monthly depreciation journal entries.
  • Prepare lead sheets for annual external audit and supply supporting documentation for compliance testing.
  • Support the Controller with credit card processing and training of card holders on receipt transmittal processes.
  • Interact with students and perform academic duties as part of the mission; may sub/teach a class.
  • Attend company-wide training and Orthodox Christian liturgical feasts; encouraged to attend daily morning prayer.

General Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for:

  • Recording and depositing all manual deposits utilizing the remote scanner in a timely fashion
  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliations for all cash accounts by the 10th of each month
  • Reconciling transactions within the Accounting and Fundraising departments (Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge) at least quarterly
  • Preparing a weekly cash forecast for use in planning timely bill payments

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics or related business field. Basic expertise with Excel. A willingness to learn and develop technical software skills. Good communication skills and a proactive customer service approach to responding to issues raised by staff, families and vendors. Detail oriented, discrete with confidential information, and motivation to seek cost-effective approaches.
