Job summary

Ryan & Wetmore, PC seeks Full-Time Staff Accountants for our Bethesda MD, Vienna VA, and Frederick MD offices. You will work across tax, attest, and accounting engagements for clients from start-ups to growing businesses, gaining hands-on experience and direct client interaction.

You will develop expertise in tax strategy, audit & assurance, and client accounting services while collaborating with partners and staff in a dynamic, professional environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
  • 0-3 years of experience in tax and accounting preferred.
  • CPA eligibility or commitment to CPA licensure is required.
  • Proficiency with Excel and MS Office.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with clients and leadership.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities for multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform audit procedures across cash, A/R, inventories, and other accounts in client statements and propose adjusting entries.
  • Review transactions for GAAP compliance.
  • Prepare financial statement footnotes and internal control observations.
  • Research accounting issues using online tools.
  • Advise clients on corporate and federal tax issues including planning and compliance.
  • Communicate with client personnel to discuss tax accounting matters and processes.
  • Meet client service expectations by adhering to budgets and deadlines.
  • Learn firm policies and standards through observation and inquiry.

Ryan & Wetmore, PC is seeking Full-Time Staff Accountants for our offices in Bethesda MD, Vienna VA, and Frederick MD. In this role, you will work across multiple industries on engagements in tax, attest, and accounting, with clients from entrepreneurs to growing businesses. This position offers hands-on experience, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to develop expertise in areas such as tax strategy, audit & assurance, and client accounting services.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform audit procedures, over cash, A/R, inventories property and equipment, prepaid, A/P, accrued expenses, debt and general income statement accounts in client financial statements and propose adjusting journal entries when needed
  • Review accounting transactions and consider appropriate application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Prepare financial statement footnotes (on areas audited) and internal control observations and recommendations
  • Research fundamental issues using online tools
  • Advise clients on a wide range of corporate and federal tax issues, various duties to include tax research and planning, compliance, consulting, and business transaction structuring services
  • Communicate with client personnel to discuss tax accounting matters, including identifying and assessing existing client accounting processes, internal controls, and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Meet client service expectations by adhering to time budgets, maintaining positive communications, and delivering highest level of customer service to clients, including those at the executive level
  • Perform other duties as needed on engagements and as assigned by supervisory personnel
  • Gain an understanding of firm policies, procedures, and professional standards through observation and inquiry, and adhere to them
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude towards the firm and profession, and represent the firm in a favorable and professional manner
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or related field
  • 0-3 years of experience related to tax & accounting
  • CPA certified or the eligibility to work toward obtaining a CPA license
  • Meet the minimum requirements for the CPA exam (e.g., 150 credit hours) before start date of employment
  • Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise internally with firm leadership, and externally with clients
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and adaptability skills to manage multiple projects at a time, producing deliverables to meet internal and external deadlines
  • Integrity, dependability, and trustworthiness
  • Sharp analytical skills and a commitment to professional development
  • Desire to work closely with Partners and clients to provide exceptional service
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of firm and client information
  • Experience working with a team to meet deliverables and ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Preferred: Experience and understanding of government contracting and DCAA requirements
  • Preferred: Experience in our other niches (construction, entrepreneurial growth, Healthcare, organizations, manufacturing, non-profit organizations, professional services, real estate, and IT)
