Job summary

Craft Massachusetts, a division within Sheehan Family Companies, is seeking a Staff Accountant to maintain the financial integrity of the Craft MA division.

The role covers general accounting, payroll processing support, month-end and year-end closings, and preparation of financial reports under GAAP, working closely with divisional leadership, corporate accounting, and operations teams to deliver timely financial data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 2+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience with payroll processing and payroll tax regulations preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP/accounting systems.
• Detail-oriented with strong organization and time management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments for monthly/quarterly closings.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and subsidiary ledgers.
• Maintain accounting records in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Support budgeting and forecasting with variance analysis.
• Process payroll for division employees and ensure compliance with laws and policies.
• Collaborate with operations to resolve billing, expense, and inventory discrepancies.
• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation.

Job Title: Staff AccountantDepartment/Division: Craft MA

Reports To: Accounting ManagerFLSA Status: Exempt, Salaried, Full-Time

Schedule: Monday through Friday 7am - 4pm in office

Position Objective: The Staff Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the financial accuracy and integrity of the division's operations. This position is responsible for performing general accounting functions, supporting payroll processing, supporting month-end and year-end closings, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations. The Staff Accountant works closely with divisional leadership, corporate accounting, and operational teams to provide timely, accurate, and relevant financial data.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments for monthly and quarterly closings.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and subsidiary ledgers to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain and update accounting records in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing accurate financial data and variance analysis.
• Assist accounts payable with processing daily load closings, purchase orders and invoices.
• Track and report on capital expenditures, prepaid expenses, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Process and reconcile payroll for division employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
• Ensure proper documentation and retention of accounting records for audits and compliance.
• Collaborate with operations to resolve billing, expense, and inventory discrepancies.
• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules, answering inquiries, and providing documentation.
• Monitor compliance with internal controls and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency.
• Support special projects and financial analysis as requested by division leadership.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 2 or more years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or divisional environment.
• Experience with payroll processing and familiarity with payroll tax regulations preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP/accounting systems.
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
