Description
Overview/Function: The Staff Accountant supports the company's business and sales strategies by performing key financial functions including day-to-day accounting functions to help produce financial statements and support financial analysis.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assist with month-end close by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and completing supplemental financial reports.
- Be a primary point of contact for assigned distribution territories, providing financial oversight and advice to operational teams.
- Analyze and interpret financial reporting for assigned locations.
- Assist in the budget and forecast preparation process for assigned locations.
- Regularly work with internal teams to achieve business and sales strategies.
- Assist with external and internal audits, compliance testing, and other Finance projects.
- Effectively set priorities and meet timetables leading to the attainment of goals
- Assigned project work to support upcoming financial and distribution system upgrades.
- Train as backup for other financial or office roles, as directed.
- Other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Excellent data analysis skills.
- Solid understanding of accounting (including GAAP) financial principles is needed.
- Customer-focused with the ability to positively and effectively interact with internal and external customers is essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good interpersonal skills to capably work in a team environment across multiple departments is required.
- Strong problem-resolution, forecasting, and analytical thinking skills are needed.
- An organized self-starter with good project-planning abilities to efficiently handle multiple projects, set priorities, and meet or exceed established timelines.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Flexible attitude to thrive in an ever-changing business environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect confidential information.
- Intermediate PC knowledge and strongMS skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) areneeded.
Additional:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position will be office-based, however may occasionally spend time at each of our facilities throughout the region or attend off-site events.
- Occasional overnight travel to branch locations may be required.
- The typical hours will be Monday-Friday (8:00 am 5:00 pm); however, some evening and weekend work may be required.
