Job summary

EWI, based in Columbus, OH, is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to support payroll, month-end close, and specialized finance tasks across LIMS and HRIS activities. The role provides cross-functional support to the finance and HR teams and offers day shift in Columbus, OH.

The ideal candidate will have a 4-year degree in accounting, 3+ years of accounting experience, and strong proficiency with Excel, Power BI, and ERP systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
  • Three or more years' experience in accounting/finance performing staff accountant duties.
  • Experience with payroll, journal entries and month-end close is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Payroll Administration: process monthly and semimonthly payroll accurately and on schedule; review inputs; reconcile activity; maintain records; train on timecards.
  • Month-End Accounting and Journal Entries: prepare and post month-end entries; complete fringe allocations; record accruals; reconcile accounts and document for audits.
  • LIMS Finance Support and Reporting: serve as Finance contact for LIMS; process exports into Dynamics; prepare profitability reports; resolve processing/reporting issues.
  • BWC Administration: perform reporting and reconciliation; respond to correspondence; support compliance activities.
  • Additional Duties: assign access in Dynamics; set up new projects with allocations; run and troubleshoot allocator; backup to billing/AR.

We are looking for an entry‑level HR Generalist to provide cross‑functional support across the human resources department, assisting with talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits administration, training and development, records retention and compliance auditing, and associate relations. This role exists to give day‑to‑day operational support to EWI\'s HR processes and HRIS (Paycom) activities, providing the VP of Human Resources to focus on strategic and complex matters while building a strong foundation of HR experience for the incumbent.


Payroll Administration


  • Process monthly and semimonthly payroll accurately and on schedule

  • Review payroll inputs, earnings, deductions, and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy

  • Reconcile payroll activity and resolve discrepancies or employee payroll questions

  • Maintain payroll records and follow established internal controls

  • New hire training on timecards


Month‑End Accounting and Journal Entries


  • Prepare and post month‑end journal entries for Merrill Lynch interest income and vacation accruals

  • Complete fringe allocations and the direct/indirect fringe reclassification

  • Record accruals for Selecteon and AEP and prepare amortization entries for capital leases

  • Reconcile assigned accounts and retain clear supporting documentation for review and audit purposes


LIMS Finance Support and Reporting


  • Serve as the primary Finance point of contact for LIMS‑related questions

  • Process LIMS exports into Dynamics and review the data for completeness and accuracy

  • Prepare and provide the profitability report to lab services

  • Investigate and resolve LIMS‑to‑Dynamics processing or reporting issues


BWC Administration


  • Perform BWC‑related reporting, reconciliation, and administrative activities

  • Maintain supporting records and respond to BWC correspondence and information requests

  • Coordinate with internal and external contacts to resolve BWC‑related questions and support compliance activities


Additional Duties


  • Assigning access in Dynamics for all new employees

  • Setting up new projects with allocations and rate tables

  • Running the allocator every day and troubleshooting any issues

  • Serve as the backup to billing/AR


Minimum Requirements

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


  • Strong working knowledge of accounting practices to include accounts payable function using purchase orders (PO) and managing vendor documentation

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to adhere to procurement policies/practices and corporate credit card programs

  • Strong computer skills - MS Office, Salesforce, as well as data visualization and reporting platforms such as Power BI Application

  • Proficient with complex Excel spreadsheets with formulas

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high‑volume, dynamic work environment

  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees

  • High degree of detail‑orientation with work

  • Effective analytical and problem‑solving skills


Education


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting


Experience


  • Three (3) or more years' experience in accounting and/or finance performing staff accountant duties
