Job description

Description

Vedder Price's Chicago office is seeking a Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant will maintain financial reports, records and general ledgers; prepare and analyze budgets; and perform general accounting including the preparation of necessary journal entries and bank account reconciliations.


As the Staff Accountant, your duties will include but not be limited to:



  • Prepare bank reconciliation monthly of domestic & foreign accounts. This includes follow up on reconciling items as needed to ensure reconciliations are clean

  • Assist Senior Accountant and Senior Analyst with monthly closings and year-end processes, including report generation and analysis.

  • Prepare and enter journal entries weekly to facilitate financial statement generation

  • Assist with the preparation and analysis of the monthly financial statement package and other monthly reports generated from the finance team for distribution to the intended recipients

  • Assist with various processes throughout the month related to financial reporting. This will include the maintenance of excel spreadsheets

  • Assist with the required monthly/quarterly/annual tax filings. This includes multi-state sales and use tax filings

  • Assist with the preparation of audit workpapers

  • Collaborate with internal accounting teams & leadership to resolve financial discrepancies

  • Perform special projects as assigned

  • Perform and evaluate 3E testing on a monthly basis

Qualifications & Required Experience:



  • Bachelor of Science in Accounting required

  • One to two years in a similar position for a law firm or professional services firm preferred

  • Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines


Computer Skills:


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in the following software:



  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Familiarity or previous experience with Elite Enterprise and/or 3E is a plus


Compensation Range: 50,000/yr. to $75,000/yr.
