Job summary

BlackHawk Data, a fast-growing, woman-owned IT solutions provider, seeks a Senior Staff Accountant to join the Finance team at our Long Island office. You will support monthly close, reconciliations, and A/R processes while partnering with the CFO to maintain accurate financial operations.

Ideal candidates have 2-5 years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, Excel proficiency, and familiarity with NetSuite.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Accounting/Finance preferred.
• MBA/CPA preferred but not required.
• 2-5 years of relevant experience.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and Excel.
• NetSuite experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly financial statements.

Work Shift: 8:30am - 5:30pm EST (position requires min 3-4 days in office)

Senior Staff Accountant will manage day to day accounting processes, prepare monthly close reconciliations, journal entries, account analyses, A/R processes and general accounting duties. This role will be responsible for providing support to the Finance Department reporting directly to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Finance Department with completion of monthly financial statement
• Assist with monthly close activities that include account reconciliation, recording journal entries, balance sheet schedules and P&L account analysis
• Validate data from multiple systems to ensure accuracy of data posted to accounting system
• Review customer contracts and assist in order approvals
• Responsible for accounts receivable including billing calculations, invoicing, statements, past due notices, posting of cash receipts and aging reports
• Identify and resolve discrepancies with internal and external teams
• Manage AR, by collecting, reporting and ensuring compliance to client’s terms
• Perform special projects, reporting analysis and other related duties as assigned
• Document and improve processes and controls within the finance department

Qualifications:

• BS/BA degree in Accounting/Finance or related field preferred
• MBA/CPA preferred but not required
• 2-5years of relevant experience
• Strong analytical skills with utilization of GAAP
• NetSuite experience preferred but not required
• Microsoft Excel experience required
• Reconciliation experience required
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong Attention to detail
• Willingness to roll up your sleeves and go the extra mile
