Job summary

J.M. Huber Corporation is seeking a Staff Accountant to support general accounting and monthly close processes within the US Finance team. You will prepare journal entries, reconcile intercompany activity, and assist with audits.

The role requires 2–4 years of accounting experience, strong US GAAP knowledge, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing environment. CPA track is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required or CPA track preferred.
• 2–4 years accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or audit setting.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Experience with an integrated ERP system (Oracle a plus).
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries with supporting calculations and documentation.
• Handle prepaids, accrued expenses, and corporate overhead allocations.
• Perform revenue recognition analyses and deferrals.
• Manage customer freight accruals with Logistics coordination.
• Handle T&E and Purchase Card accruals.
• Close sub-systems in Oracle.
• Close AP and AR and ensure proper cut-off/ interfaces.
• Payroll accounting interface and related accruals.
• Intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
• Prepare reconciliations, schedules, and analytics.
• Support audit requests and liaise with auditors.
• Coordinate with STS group to resolve AP issues.
• Act as secondary back-up for cash application.
• Contribute to ad hoc projects and analysis.

Position Summary Performs a wide variety of general accounting and analytical responsibilities that are critical to the operations of the JM Huber US Finance team and ensuring a timely financial close on a monthly basis. Collaborates with colleagues and accounting management to calculate and prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries, record and reconcile intercompany activity, and completes various account reconciliations to ensure integrity of the balance sheet. The Staff Accountant also acts as a liaison to other Huber affiliates to ensure proper accounting of intercompany activity, respond to and prepare work papers for various audit inquires, and perform various accounting related tasks and ad hoc requests.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities General Accounting and Month-end Close

• Prepare journal entries, including development of supporting documentation and calculations
• Prepaids, accrued expenses, corporate overhead allocations
• Revenue recognition analysis and deferral calculations
• Customer freight accruals, coordinate with Logistics Team to ensure completeness & accuracy
• T&E and Purchase Cards calculations and accruals
• Close financial accounting sub-systems in Oracle
• Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables close, ensuring proper system cut-off and interface
• Payroll accounting journal interface and related payroll accruals
• 3rd party commission accounting interface and accruals
• Reconciliations, documentation, and analytics
• Prepare reconciliations of bank activity and bank statements
• Track and ensure reconciliation with I/C partners, including factored receivables and shipment activity
• Review of trial balance for discrepancies and potential reclassifications
• Draft account reconciliations, research, document and resolve reconciling items

Audit and Other responsibilities

• Prepare schedules and work papers for internal and external audit requests
• Liaise and respond to audit questions and inquiries
• Coordinate with Shared Transaction Services (STS) group to resolve Accounts Payable issues, coordinating with plant accounting teams, as necessary
• Secondary back-up for cash application, when necessary

Perform various ad hoc projects and analysis, as necessary

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA or CPA track preferred
• 2 to 4 years accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing organization or audit firm
• Working knowledge of US GAAP
• Experience with an integrated ERP system, Oracle a plus
• Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and with a team
• Effective communication skills, written and verbal
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to be flexible with work assignments and collaboration
