Job summary

FairSquare is seeking a Staff Accountant to prepare and maintain financial records and support the accounting team. The role reports to the Accounting Manager and offers a hybrid schedule across two offices: San Diego, CA and Atlanta, GA, with daily duties from 8:00 to 4:30, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities include monthly closings, loan and lease data entry, reporting for internal and external users, and cross-training within the department.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years of experience in an office environment.
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Staff Accountant (Temporary, Possible Temp-to-Hire)

Reports to: Accounting Manager

Hourly Pay Range: $29.00-36.25/hour ($60K-75K)

Position can either work from our San Diego, CA or Atlanta, GA offices:

  • Location: San Diego, CA (La Jolla/UTC), Hybrid Schedule 3-days onsite/2-days remote, Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30
  • Locations: Atlanta. GA (Near Truist Park, Cumberland/Galleria area), Hybrid Schedule 2-days onsite/3-days remote, Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30
General Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other financial activities. Reports to Accounting Supervisor or Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Audit and enter loan & lease information into multiple software applications
  • Generate reports and other sensitive information for both internal and external users
  • Coordinate with team members on specific loan & lease-related tasks
  • Transmit daily loan & lease ACH and/or wires
  • Provide administrative assistance when necessary to help ensure a clean and timely month end close
  • Collaborate with Accounting Manager/Supervisor and team members to support overall department goals and objectives
  • Support Accounting Manager/Supervisor with projects on an as-needed basis
  • Maintain regulatory compliance through quarterly web-based training
  • Performs other duties as assigned to include cross training within the department.

  • Progressively responsible professional accounting experience demonstrating full range of professional competency and experience. Works under general direction. Able to resolve problems of moderate scope and only needs general direction for new assignments. Exercises judgment in moderate situations and independently identifies next steps. Responsible for performing daily and monthly GL journal entries and reconciliations. They will also be responsible for assisting with treasury management and lines of credit, AR & AP, maintaining tax records, loans and lease receivables, and providing other support to the department staff as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Minimum two years of experience in an office environment
  • Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate with data entry and transaction processing
  • Ability to accurately review, analyze, and verify data in a timely fashion
  • Must be able to effectively manage and maintain electronic documents ensuring confidentiality
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Minimum Associates degree in Accounting, Business, or other finance related discipline. Bachelor's degree in related field highly preferred

  • Working in a temperature-controlled office environment
  • Sitting at a desk for long periods of time while viewing multiple computer screen monitors
  • Potential lifting of boxes up to 10lbs
  • Occasional overtime
