Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of experience in child welfare or related social services.
  • 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, supervision, and evaluative input to youth care workers to ensure client safety.
  • Conduct camera supervision for staff accountability for at least 30 minutes per shift.
  • Develop skills groups with the treatment team and facilitate meetings with clients.
  • Supervise kitchen staff to ensure food safety, meal prep, and stock rotation.
  • Oversee client activities and transportation; maintain YCW/client ratios per licensure guidelines.
  • Complete accurate documentation and communicate with other service areas.
  • Create progress notes and intake packets as needed during night shifts.
  • Ensure shelter security, monitor alarms, and report needed repairs.
  • Support compliance by filing weekly/monthly activity forms and related documents.

Assists in the oversight of services by coordinating activities, problem-solving & making decisions under the direction of the coordinator and program director. Conducts meetings and provides ongoing coaching and evaluative input on direct care staff and participates in continuous quality improvement. Participate as a valuable part of the service delivery team.What you DeliverProvides leadership, supervision, and evaluative input to youth care workers (YCW) to ensure client safety, and security at all times assigning specific duties and responsibilities while assisting staff in achieving expectations in a team atmosphere. Conducts camera supervision surveillance for at least 30 minutes to ensure staff accountability. Night Shift Leaders also ensure YCWs are alert and conduct supervision checks on youth according to program proceduresWork with the treatment team to develop appropriate skills groups for clients. Effectively facilitate skills group meetings with clientsProvide supervision and evaluative input to kitchen staff to ensure proper food safety practices, meal preparation, food usage, storage, menu completion, stock rotation, and maintain appropriate pantry stockOversee all client's activities, ensure clients in care are closely supervised by youth care workers, and ensure that clients in care are provided with transportation during regular and special education, and recreational outings. Ensure that YCW/client ratios are always maintained following licensure guidelines, Cooperative Agreement, and program proceduresResponsible for the ongoing completion of accurate documentation. Review of client activities/events that occurred while on duty. Review documentation for timeliness, accurateness, and professionalism. Be in constant communication with other service areas. Have working knowledge of computer programs and databases necessary to complete daily tasks including, but not limited to, population reports, e-mail communication, excel spreadsheets, scanning, and printing of adobe formsNight shift leaders must be able to perform duties such as creating client progress notes, weekly activity forms, monthly activity forms/calendar, and create new intake packets when needed. Night shift leaders support compliance by filing client progress notes, weekly activity forms, monthly activity/calendar, and redirection forms from previous shifts on a daily/weekly basisWhile on duty, responsible for the security of the shelter. Ensure all security, alarm, and surveillance systems are always functional. Document building inspections and placing work orders for repairs as neededAttend all mandatory meetings and training on time and distribute information to other staff about training or meetings.
