Job summary

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in simulation technology and finite element analysis applications.
  • Demonstrated coding proficiency in one or more languages such as C++, C#, Python, VBA, or FORTRAN.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, CI/CD, and automated testing.
  • Experience with or understanding of version control systems such as Git and SourceGear Vault.
  • Exposure to CAE tools such as Simcenter Femap, Nastran, or similar software.

Responsibilities

Position Description:

Siemens DI Software is seeking a motivated co-op student currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. This role is designed for students interested in simulation technology and offers opportunities aligned to either a software engineering focus or a mechanical engineering focus. You will work directly with the Simcenter Femap team, supporting simulation workflows used to solve challenging engineering problems. Simcenter Femap is an advanced simulation application for creating, editing and inspecting finite element models of complex products or systems.

Key Responsibilities:
Software Engineering Focus
  • Develop andmaintainsimulation software using modern coding practices in languages such as C++, C#, Python, and FORTRAN.
  • Design, implement, and test new features in an agile environment that follows continuous integration/continuous delivery practices.
  • Use version control tools such as Git andSourceGearVault, along with automated unit and integration testing, to support high-quality software development.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other developers to ensure software features meet technical and user needs.
  • Develop custom applications using the FEMAP Applications Programming Interface (API) to extend functionality for customers and internal teams.
Mechanical Engineering Focus
  • Build,modify, and evaluate finite element models usingSimcenterFemapand Nastran.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals and simulation methods to assess the performance of mechanical products and systems. This includes models from various industries including aerospace, marine, and power generation.
  • Translate customer, product, and engineering requirements intosimulationworkflows, feature ideas, and product improvement recommendations.
  • Help define modeling approaches, meshing strategies, boundary conditions, and result interpretation for common analysis scenarios.
  • Test andvalidatesoftware capabilities from an end-user engineering perspective and provide feedback on workflow, usability, and functionality.
Requirements:
