Job summary

GAF in Burgaw, NC is seeking an SSB Machine Operator to run ventilation or specialty products at the Burgaw Plant. You will work with a team to maintain safety, quality, service and cost as top priorities in a fast-paced production environment.

The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, standing and walking, and performing routine maintenance and equipment adjustments while following plant standards and daily production schedules.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• 3 months manufacturing experience preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operates simple one-step or one-process machines to manufacture ventilation or specialty products.
• Ensures safe work area setup and monitors quality of materials and parts.
• Keeps production reports and tracks downtime.
• Reports production problems to supervisor and ensures safety and quality standards.
• Inspects equipment and performs basic maintenance and adjustments.
• Maintains clean work areas according to plant standards.
• Packages finished products with proper labeling.
• Reports recurring quality issues to management for quick resolution.
• Communicates with coworkers; stands, walks, and handles objects and controls regularly.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds (note: actual job requires up to 50 pounds in qualifications).
• Vision requirements include close vision and depth perception.

Job Summary

The SSB Machine Operator performs with high-quality commercial roofing accessory products at the Burgaw Plant. Responsibilities include various rotating duties relating to departmental operations. The SSB Machine Operator partners with other machine operators, lead and supervisor to establish and maintain an environment where safety, quality, service and cost are the highest priorities.

Essential Duties

• Operates a wide variety of simple one step or one-process machines to manufacture ventilation or specialty products.
• Ensures that the work area has been set up to provide optimum safe work area and workflow. Monitors quality of materials supplied and parts produced & recommends corrections as necessary.
• Keeps track of production on daily schedule control sheets and other production reports. Tracks downtime of equipment and production.
• Responsible for keeping supervisor informed of production problems, which could be material, machine or personnel related. Responsible for conformance of production with plant standards of safety, quality, production and efficiency.
• Inspects equipment for operating efficiency. Cleans, performs basic maintenance, and makes minor repairs or specified operating adjustments to equipment.
• Cleans and maintains work areas in accordance with plant standards.
• Ability to pack finished products in appropriate containers, using a proper label.
• Ability to report recurring quality problems to management for quick resolution.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate information with/to other employees; frequently stand and walk; use both hands to handle objects, tools and controls; frequently bend and reach into baskets on floor; occasionally stoop; and reach with both arms and hands.
• The employee must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.

Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.

Base Hourly Rate: $24.04
