AQUATIC ATTENDANT-LORIN FARR OUTDOOR POOL

DEPARTMENT: Public Services

DIVISION: Recreation

Rate of pay: $13.00 - $15.00 depending on experience. This position is not eligible for benefits.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Aquatic Attendant plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and enjoyable aquatic environment for all patrons. This position is responsible for assisting with the upkeep of pool facilities, setting up and taking down equipment along with other various tasks. The Aquatic Attendant ensures that patrons have a positive experience by providing excellent customer service and maintaining high facility standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
  2. Friendly, approachable demeanor with excellent customer service skills.
  3. Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team.
  4. Basic physical fitness to perform lifting, bending, and repetitive motions as needed.
  5. Greet patrons in a friendly and professional manner.
  6. Maintain cleanliness of the pool deck, locker rooms, and other aquatic facility areas.
  7. Set up and take down equipment for aquatic programs, swim lessons, and recreational activities.
  8. Assist lifeguards with monitoring pool areas for safety concerns and help enforce facility rules when needed.
  9. Restock supplies, such as towels, cleaning materials, and safety equipment.
  10. Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or broken equipment to supervisors promptly.
  11. Support patrons by answering questions and providing information about facility programs and policies.
  12. Assist with basic maintenance tasks such as skimming pools, vacuuming, and checking pool chemical levels under supervision.
  13. Provide backup support for front desk staff during busy periods, such as greeting patrons or processing admissions.
  14. Collaborate with lifeguards and aquatic instructors to ensure smooth daily operations.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. 16 Years or older
  2. Previous experience in customer service or facility maintenance is a plus.
  3. Basic knowledge of pool operations and equipment (preferred, but not required).
  4. CPR/AED and First Aid certification (required within 30 days of employment).

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Ability to push, pull, or lift 25-50 pounds (frequently), 100 pounds (rarely).
  2. Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time in varying outside air temperatures and climate conditions.
  3. While performing duties of this job, employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, jump, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  4. Ability to walk, run, jump, or stand on uneven terrain.
  5. Work involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks associated with responding to aquatic emergencies.
  6. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, chemicals, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
