Job summary

Alta Planning + Design seeks a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Planner for our Oakland office. This production-level position supports project objectives by producing high-quality plans, reports, and materials and by collaborating with planners, engineers, program specialists, and graphic designers.

You will lead walk audits, engage with school stakeholders, participate in public outreach, and develop maps and reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Public Health, or a related field.
• Experience in a consulting environment or public entity preferred.
• Interest in active, non-motorized transportation and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality plans, reports, and analyses.
• Participate in public outreach and other project deliverables.
• Lead pedestrian education and on-site school engagement activities.
• Conduct field investigations, site analyses, and data collection for maps and displays.
• Develop newsletters, lesson plans, final reports, memos, and workshop materials.
